Junes’s Playground of the Month is Nicholas Sheran Park!

Nicholas Sheran Park is located just off of McMaster Blvd. West. Surrounded by beautiful mature trees, a scenic lake, and expansive green space, this park offers something for everyone. Visitors can enjoy bird watching, disc golf, fishing, walking paths, and plenty of room for outdoor play and family adventures.

 

Our playground testers thought Nicholas Sheran Park would be great for picnics and fishing!

Your Picnic Pack Checklist:

  1. Picnic blanket or lawn chairs

  2. Water bottles

  3. Snacks and a packed lunch

  4. Sunscreen and hats

  5. Bug spray

  6. Outdoor toys

  7. Bionoculars for bird watching

  8. Fishing rod (if you’d like to try fishing at the lake!)

PRO TIP

  • Pack a few extra snacks if you plan to stay a while; between the playground, lake, and open green space, Nicholas Sheran Park is the perfect spot for a full afternoon of family fun!


Fishing in Nicholas Sheran Lake

Look out for Trout, Pike, and White Fish!

You aren't required to purchase a sportfishing licence in Alberta if you are any of the following:

  • under 16 years of age

  • an Alberta resident 65 years of age or older

  • a person who holds a Certificate of Indian Status

To purchase an Alberta sportfishing licence online, you will need:

  • a valid credit card (Visa, MasterCard or American Express)

  • an email address (to receive up-to-date information about Alberta regulations)

  • a Wildlife Identification Number (WIN).

If you don’t have a WIN, you can apply for a Wildlife Identification Number online (or renew an existing one or replace a card) before purchasing a fishing licence. On the application, you will be asked to provide a driver’s licence number, health care card number or Canadian passport number to verify your identity.
